Welp.

Everyone gets Crimbo jumpers!

Honestly that's about the extent of my positivity here. 😕 It's a return to the nanoscale or buildable things that you really can't do much with except maybe stick them on your tree and... Why???? What were they thinking? In past years, they've given us some prints we could use for our builds to upgrade stickers or just things that were missing altogether... and instead here we get a completely useless buildable microscale creature or a magical thing. Yay. 😐 For something that has been my favourite set of the year for years now, this is such a disappointment, so much so I don't think I'll buy one new. Anyway, if that buildup has made you curious and you want to spoil yourself, you'll find a pic beneath the fold. Read more... )

Hello, my lovelies! We have some news on this year's D2C (Direct to Customer, lego store exclusive) for the lego Harry Potter theme and it's going to be a Hogsmeade Village set, 76457 with a confirmed piece count of 3228, to be released in September, presumably as part of the now annual "Back to Hogwarts" event on 01 September. No word yet on the price.

We're also getting a Retail Exclusive set 76458, as part of the summer wave, with 548 pieces and expected to retail for $70 with a 01 June release date. Read more... )

Pix have leaked from this year's lego Harry Potter 2024 Advent Calendar 76438, and as announced, it is a nice Christmas expansion to the Great Hall 76435 set. There are obviously spoilers, so click below the fold at your own risk. Read more... )

This looks like a great set (assuming the price point doesn't break the bank). I'm looking forward to it already!

Starting 01 September, fittingly enough, the 2023 Back to Hogwarts Celebration begins. Check your region's lego site for the precise time. US, UK, DE. <- that might matter if you're trying to snag the GWP particularly with a popular purchase (Day One Gringotts, say... 😉)

SPOILERS, and therefore spoilered. DO NOT CLICK THROUGH UNLESS YOU WANT TO SEE THE CONTENTS OF THE CALENDAR!!!! Be smart about this. Know yourself and don't inadvertently ruin your fun; I'll survive without the extra views, trust me. 😉Read more... )

We've got the first pictures of two of the autumn sets now from a Japanese catalogue, and they're both pretty good! The new micro-nanoscale Hogwarts, 76419 lego Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle & Grounds, and 76418 the 2023 lego Harry Potter Advent Calendar, both with an expected 01 September release date. (It's just a picture of the front of the Advent Calendar's box, and we've already seen the minifigs from an earlier leak, but think twice before spoiling yourself by clicking through.) Read more... )

We're not expecting to see any official news on the summer sets until May, and as any good fan knows, 02 May 2023 is the canonical 25th anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts, so I'm hoping for a nice promotional event. (lego, are you listening?) In fact, it fits so nicely, I'll be seriously disappointed if they don't do it. Seriously, they do a "May the 4th be with you" event every year for the Star Wars fans, so I want to see some love for the Harry Potter fandom, too. Full stop. That's me, greedy, needy and oh so demanding. 😉

Official plans aside, promobricks (PB) had a German podcast on this for Easter, eurobricks' bRICKbRAT provided the missing set names, and yesterday the English promobricks (PBeng) video channel updated with the new info, and appearing more or less at the same time, an article on the German StoneWars (SW) site, with an assist from Brick_Clicker, added still more details. Unfortunately there are a few discrepancies between the versions, so I'll try to highlight them. Read more... )

And that's all the news on the sets we're expecting in the near(ish) future.

Five (or maybe six) minifigs from the lego Harry Potter theme have leaked! From the look of them, they're mostly from the Hogsmeade visit in Prisoner of Azkaban. Harry, Hermione, Ron and Draco are anyway (it's consistent both with the outfits and the midi legs we typically see for third and fourth years). It seems there is also the first ever Aberforth Dumbledore (!) minifig, presumably from Order of the Phoenix or Deathly Hallows 2, and Madam Rosmerta has been spotted with the other minifigs, although it looks like she's a repeat of hp290 the minifig included in 76388 the 2021 Hogsmeade set.

If these six were to appear in a single set, the assumption must be an Advent Calendar, as they aren't in the same movies, so the chances are good we'll see a Hogsmeade centred Advent Calendar for the 2023 Harry Potter lego theme, which would thrill me to bits, in general, but also because I've been lobbying (heavily) for the ACs to actually use the seasonally appropriate canonical content. What If...

What if the 2022 Lego Harry Potter Advent Calendar focused on the Order of the Phoenix's Christmas at 12 Grimmauld Place in 1995? With the release of the lovely Grimmauld Place set this year and an abundance of canonical Christmas material, it seems such a shame that it didn't, so with the magic of Mecabricks, let's just pretend it did... Hey Presto!
