As the title suggests, I've finished the digital model for the Butterbeer Truck and posted it on Mecabricks. As we don't have the instructions of parts list, it's a best guess, and unfortunately Mecabricks doesn't check if the parts are current or exist in a given colour, so I've eyed it and gone by best guess on both counts. I'll probably update it once the instructions are published if the inventory feature is working again over on MB.

Feel free to incorporate it into your digital Hogsmeade builds.

In light of recent developments, I figured you could use a bit of positivity, so... Lego has announced a Harry Potter In-store Build for the Harry Potter theme during the Back to Hogwarts week. At participating Lego Stores (for clarification, that's actual brick and mortar Lego Stores and not just a store selling lego or even the online shop), while supplies last, you can build a Butterbeer sales cart, and frankly it's pretty cute. Read more... )

Again, check your local store's page to see if they're participating or making changes.

Worth considering:
The Back to Hogwarts Event begins tomorrow 01 September.
(US link above or Canadian link)

- Purchases at or above $40 get this year's Harry Potter lego Polybag: 30706 Quidditch Lesson as a GWP. (While supplies last.)

IMG_5982.webp

- Purchases at or above $130 additionally get 40770 Hogwarts™ Castle: Room of Requirement GWP. (While supplies last.)

IMG_5973.webp

- Lego Insiders (what the VIP program is now called) can order 76457 Hogsmeade™ Village – Collectors' Edition early as of 01 September (everyone else needs to wait until 04 September).
- While supplies last, those doing so will also receive the metal Hogsmeade™ Sign GWP.

So be aware, waiting to make your Harry Potter purchases until the Butterbeer truck build event may cost you the GWPs if they run out of them by then. As the Make and Take event doesn't seem tied to purchases, it might be safer to order what you want on the first and attend the in-store event the following weekend if it works for you.

This summer lego is introducing three different book nooks. One from the Harry Potter theme, one from the Lord of the Rings / Hobbit theme, and the third is a tribute to Sherlock Holmes. All three have a 01 June 2025 release date. Pictures of the LotR set have leaked now, so let's take a look at them, shall we? Read more... )

And that's the three new Book Nooks for you. Which, if any, are you more likely to buy? Did I miss any Easter eggs in the Sherlock Holmes set? And is it too, too frightfully obvious which set I liked best? 😆

So after my multi-paragraph whinge about the planting in the lego Harry Potter set 76445 Hogwarts Castle: Herbology Class from the 2025 summer wave, we're now seeing a preview of a new set in the Wednesday series. And why do I bring it up, you might ask? Also bearing in mind that this is the theme that brought us the adorable gargoyles last year (later used in the 2025 76453 Malfoy Manor), 76784 lego Wednesday Black Dahlia Flower is well worth mentioning in its own right (and certainly in this context) because in addition to a buildable flower (a dahlia, obvs), it includes a mini-greenhouse, also worth mentioning because that greenhouse (in stark contrast to the 2024+ Hogwarts Herbology greenhouse) contains some nice plant builds, certainly for the price. It was unavoidable. When Trump began faffing about fairly indiscriminately with tariffs and trade wars loomed, lego prices stateside quite naturally had to be impacted as well. The increase is expected to be roughly 15 % on the smaller sets decreasing to 7 % on the larger ones. The global effects are still unclear, but usually when there's a price hike somewhere, companies often to take advantage of the cover it provides and raise prices elsewhere as well, or they use it to defray the spike in one area, or the production is scattered and more intertwined than we tend to think and more regions are affected. Perhaps having gone through price hikes in Europe in recent years, however, we might be spared. Read more... )

Pics of the two sets from the 2025 Lego Harry Potter Winter Wave are beneath the fold... Frankly they're good enough that even if you aren't normally the sort to peek at spoilers, this one is worth it.

In honour of Snape's most excellent arm printing (thank you, lego!), here Potter Puppet Pals' "Snape's Diary", which includes the even more excellent Snape's Ode to his Buttons (it begins at the 1:57 mark, but the embedded player doesn't seem to want to start from there):

[identity profile] gingerwitch.livejournal.com
Quelle surprise. 😉

I always keep an eye out for sets I can integrate into my lego Harry Potter builds, and in much the same vein as the Wicked sets, thanks to the Greek lego store and the sharp-eyed folks at Promobricks, we now have an advance peek into two sets from the Netflix hit "Wednesday". Expected release date, 01 October, 2024.

My first impression is that those two properties (Wicked / Wednesday) seem to occupy much the same space, at least visually, which always feels like a mixed bag. It's obviously nice to have more pieces and builds to flesh out a mood or your similarly themed MOCs, but it also makes the actual sets seem even less original than they might without the direct comparison. On the other hand, now is when they're relevant, so waiting or staggering them doesn't really make sense either. My second thought is that both of the Wednesday sets have very robust bases that I rarely enjoy paying for, but they do at least seem to be put to use holding the extra parts included in both sets, so at least there's that. And still more HP lego news! We have our first picture of a rumoured second Harry Potter theme GWP. Unfortunately rumour also has it this might be a GWP only available with purchase of the Collectors' Edition Burrow, but for anyone who might be interested, the Australian lego store has posted an entry for the lego themed Weasley family clock 🕰️. I've no clue if it will stay online, so the relevant information is provided below the fold.Read more... )

And we now have some great pix of the 2024 lego Harry Potter theme gift with purchase (GWP)! Amusingly enough, it also solves the question of "Just what should Floo powder look like?" that [livejournal.com profile] erexen and I were discussing only yesterday. How's that for timing, huh? I'm definitely looking forward to this set. 😃

It seems the LEGO House Instagram account briefly posted promotional material today for an upcoming event celebrating the release of the LEGO Harry Potter 76437 the Burrow - Collector's Edition (2405 pieces, 10 minifigures, 259,99 Euro (expected retail price)), as the post has since been removed. Fortunately Jay's Brick Blog snagged the photo, and the ever lovely people at StoneWars.de have signal boosted appropriately. Shout outs to both, woohoo! 😘

Luckily, this little oopsie doozy gives us our first good look at the Burrow Direct to Customer (D2C) set since the leak from the Chilean lego dealer inadvertently provided us with a small peek a few weeks ago. Read more... )

It looks like some parts of Europe will be getting their own "build a lego Harry Potter freebie" in the weeks to come in the form of a small Hogwarts Express set to build and keep.

On the 4th and 5th of September, from 3 to 5 pm, the German, Austrian and Swiss lego stores are expected to have their own Back to Hogwarts event with a little Hogwarts Express. Contact your local store to see if they're participating. Supplies are limited, first come, first serve, and only one engine per person. Read more... )

If you miss out, don't worry. It looks like it's only 43 pieces, and unlike this year's Barnes & Noble build, none of them are exclusive.
