So we have first news of what awaits us during the now annual Back to Hogwarts Special Event lego has for the Harry Potter theme starting every September 1st.

IMG_5980.webp

The event will take place 01 - 07 September 2025, with GWPs (gifts with purchase) on offer while supplies last. Experience shows it's worth deciding what, if anything, you want in advance and acting quickly. Please note: the price thresholds for the GWPs may be off, but I'm not sure if this is the result of tariffs. Take them as ballpark figures, and we'll have to wait for official confirmation. I also think there's a good chance the pound and euro numbers are reversed. We'll know soon enough. Read more... )

If you're considering putting together an order for the GWPs, it's worth noting the Harry Potter BrickHeadz go on sale 01 September, and can be used to meet those thresholds. Even if you aren't an avid BrickHeadz collector, they're always worth a consideration for ebay as many people don't order from the lego store directly, although I'm not sure why.

Photos! Good ones even! 😆

We have photos of the 2025 GWP (gift with purchase), and it's genuinely better than I was expecting! Lego Harry Potter 40770 Hogwarts Castle: Room of Requirement.

Let's not oversell it. Overall it's a mixed bag, to be sure, as it's in the format of the foldable classrooms which have issues based on their constraints / parameters. There's little way around that with the current 2024+ Hogwarts castle scheme, and folded, it's a bit of a mess. That acknowledged, this little GWP nicely captures the scene where Neville greets the trio in the RoR in Deathly Hallows (DH2), and DH (or HBP) sets are always welcome, and I haven't got a lot of room left to display things anyway. Plus it makes sense in combination with the Hogsmeade D2C set with the Hog's Head (it was that or an RoR with Dumbledore's Army (DA) practice). As a side note, it's largely something people can get in the ballpark of, building it on their own, if they miss this set. It's always nice when lego do that to reduce the FOMO. There are a few stickered pieces (the portrait, for one) that make it hard to directly replace, the adult Mimbulus Mimbletonia (the recolour of the potions bubbles presently only available in the 2025 76445 Hogwarts Castle: Herbology Class set, and then there are the hammocks... Still. An acceptable MOC is within reach.

Also, this year is now officially the year of Neville, just saying. At this point, we may be seeing more of him than Harry. To be clear, I don't actually mind that, but I do feel Hermione and the girls haven't been as fairly represented this year. If they were going to push Neville, they needed to tone down the Ron. And where's Ginny been hiding? Read more... )

And now we have interior shots of the Manor, from the 2025 Winter Wave, lego Harry Potter 76453 Malfoy Manor. Shall we see how my predictions did? I think we shall... Read more... )

So, now that we've seen more details, what do you think?

We now have better quality pictures from Smyths of the new lego Harry Potter Winter 2025 wave sets the nanoscale 76444 Diagon Alley: Wizarding Shops and 76453 Malfoy Manor. They're 2750 and 1601 pieces respectively and due out 01 January 2025. Read more... )

And because he's not included in the Malfoy Manor set, a shout out to Harry and the Potters and their classic, "(No one's asking) 'Where's Ron?'" (aka "Where the hell is Ron?"):

Pix have leaked of the new lego Harry Potter Winter 2025 wave set 76443 Hagrid and Harry's Motorcycle Ride with Hagrid on his motorcycle and Harry in the sidecar with a buildable Hedwig. The set with 617 pieces is due out in January 2025. Read more... )

And the leaking season has begun! We have first pictures of what appear to be the Nanoscale Diagon Alley and the Malfoy Manor sets... Pictures and set info below the fold. Read more... )

I'll keep you posted when we know more.

JBSpielwaren have posted pictures of the winter wave! Woohoo!

IMG_7656.jpeg

Pictures below. I don't think they should be labelled as spoilers as these are basically the final, excellent quality pix, the set boxes, however, are missing a few details like piece counts, so it's conceivable, if not highly probable, that there could be a few other changes as well. Everything is below the fold if you'd like to see the new sets, sorted by the expected prices. Read more... )

And we have them! Set names and rudimentary descriptions of the Lego Harry Potter theme's winter 2024 wave! It's largely remakes / reimaginings, which this far into an evergreen theme with minimal new source material was to be expected. Fair dinkum. I do think they've missed a trick or two by not exploring scenes they haven't visited before, but it sounds like they have some ideas to keep things interesting, so let's take a closer look... And we have some news from a very reliable leaker on this year's lego Harry Potter theme gift with purchase (GWP). Open the fold for more... Read more... )

We now have the promotional material for this year's D2C in the Harry Potter lego theme, 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank. This set is expected to go on sale 01 September, 2023; accordingly, it's likely they'll wait with the Vault GWP until then.

The 4803 piece set consists of two main sections, the above ground, with two buildings and a wall, and the below ground section, comprised of a very solid centre trunk section with 4 arms at the top to support the upper levels, dotted with three vaults, a number of stalactites and stalagmites, lanterns, a bat, a narrow waterfall (Thief's Downfall) and encircled by a spiral shaped track for the mine cart that takes Harry and Hagrid to Harry's vault in the first film / book. Just in case you didn't believe there was one, here we have the official plan for how the new Battle of Hogwarts (lego Harry Potter 76415) set fits in with the other modular 2021+ system sets to make something that actually resembles the castle we all know and love.

Sets required for the build:
76402 Hogwarts: Dumbledore's Office (2022)
76401 Hogwarts Courtyard: Sirius's Rescue (2022)
76413 Hogwarts: Room of Requirement (2023)
76398 Hogwarts Hospital Wing (2022)
76386 Hogwarts: Polyjuice Potion Mistake (2021)
76415 The Battle of Hogwarts (2023)
76389 Hogwarts Chamber of Secrets (2021)

And that finally gives us an explanation for why the Infirmary set was designed to bend around outwards. (I'm finding that titbit surprisingly satisfying. 😆)

We've seen Dobby and the Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes pix already, now we've got a peek for you at the remaining four sets. I'm still expecting the full reveal sometime today, because you don't release the first ever Battle of Hogwarts set the week of the 25th anniversary of the BoH without somehow reflecting that fact, darn it. (Or if you do, you need fire your marketing peeps and come speak to Ginger, just saying.)Read more... )

76422 Weasleys Wizard Wheezes $89.99 | 834 pieces (8+) | 7 minifigs! (HBP) We now have a soft focus shot of the set, and some answers to the question of what we saw in the super fuzzy picture of the summer line-up that I'm attaching below. Spoil yourself at your own discretion.Read more... )

We're not expecting to see any official news on the summer sets until May, and as any good fan knows, 02 May 2023 is the canonical 25th anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts, so I'm hoping for a nice promotional event. (lego, are you listening?) In fact, it fits so nicely, I'll be seriously disappointed if they don't do it. Seriously, they do a "May the 4th be with you" event every year for the Star Wars fans, so I want to see some love for the Harry Potter fandom, too. Full stop. That's me, greedy, needy and oh so demanding. 😉

Official plans aside, promobricks (PB) had a German podcast on this for Easter, eurobricks' bRICKbRAT provided the missing set names, and yesterday the English promobricks (PBeng) video channel updated with the new info, and appearing more or less at the same time, an article on the German StoneWars (SW) site, with an assist from Brick_Clicker, added still more details. Unfortunately there are a few discrepancies between the versions, so I'll try to highlight them. Read more... )

And that's all the news on the sets we're expecting in the near(ish) future.
[identity profile] gingerwitch.livejournal.com
Five (or maybe six) minifigs from the lego Harry Potter theme have leaked! From the look of them, they're mostly from the Hogsmeade visit in Prisoner of Azkaban. Harry, Hermione, Ron and Draco are anyway (it's consistent both with the outfits and the midi legs we typically see for third and fourth years). It seems there is also the first ever Aberforth Dumbledore (!) minifig, presumably from Order of the Phoenix or Deathly Hallows 2, and Madam Rosmerta has been spotted with the other minifigs, although it looks like she's a repeat of hp290 the minifig included in 76388 the 2021 Hogsmeade set.

If these six were to appear in a single set, the assumption must be an Advent Calendar, as they aren't in the same movies, so the chances are good we'll see a Hogsmeade centred Advent Calendar for the 2023 Harry Potter lego theme, which would thrill me to bits, in general, but also because I've been lobbying (heavily) for the ACs to actually use the seasonally appropriate canonical content. As already mentioned, lego has published pictures of the six Harry Potter lego sets from the 1st half year of 2023. I've presented the first four House Banner sets here. The remaining two are slightly larger, more standard, non-gimmick sets of the Triwizard Tournament's Second Task and the Room of Hidden Things version of the Room of Requirement from the Battle of Hogwarts. Promobricks (caveat: German) surprised us this week with some news on next year's lego Harry Potter theme winter lineup, slated for release on March 1st, 2023. They'd previously announced there will be a fifty percent increase in the number of sets (that works out to two more 😉) than in the winter 2021 and 2022 waves, and now we have some details on the six sets to go with that titbit (spoilers follow, click at your own peril, my lovelies):Read more... )

A final observation: as an added information bonus, the set numbers we now know provide a hint that we're likely to see at least six other sets in the summer wave. 😊 Let the wishful thinking begin! (Isn't it a pity "magical thinking" means something else entirely? It would have fit so well. 😋)

So, fangirling took place, because I'm me and fundamentally can't help it, and MicMacPadWac took another crack at it and redesigned the build as what it might look like if it were a Hogwarts Moments set, and now the world has this, which is too cool for words:

AF442763-342C-4608-B1B3-1DA232EA9F1A.jpeg

Contrasting it with the original SEC,

C6FD02C8-2587-465B-BB9F-D3881F20E34F.jpeg

we see the Moments version has gained in height and shortened in both the width of the central piece (from 10 to 4 studs) and the sides, but it's a strong contender as set design goes. (One guess as to what I'll be doing with the extra pieces from that Potions set I ordered last week. 😆) Headcanon: they wouldn't need the ladder at all (what are wands for?), except Narcissa is too nearsighted to read the titles on the upper shelves and too vain to wear specs. 😉

I think I'm going to try to take a shot at widening the set while attempting to keep the book format, and perhaps there'll be room for those armchairs while I'm about it (to say nothing of the Caol Ila...😉).
