What if the 2022 Lego Harry Potter Advent Calendar focused on the Order of the Phoenix's Christmas at 12 Grimmauld Place in 1995? With the release of the lovely Grimmauld Place set this year and an abundance of canonical Christmas material, it seems such a shame that it didn't, so with the magic of Mecabricks, let's just pretend it did... Hey Presto!
The calendar starts here with Day 01.
Day 04 of the 12 Grimmauld Place Advent Calendar
Day four we'd open the door, and out would tumble a bunch of small pieces that will build the counter and second half of the sink in the Grimmauld Place kitchen.
As on the day before, I've made a deliberate choice to use a 2x3 Plate for increased stability and included an extra 1x3 Plate. The reason for it becomes evident when we look at the 12 Grimmauld Place set's kitchen, where there's a tile 1 stud deep in front of the windows and door.
By removing the 2x3 Plates from the sink's and counter's bases and substituting the 1x3 Plates along the front edge, the sink and counter can slot into the set's kitchen, right in front of the windows and door. The yellow "canister" beneath the counter is kept in place to the sides, front and back by other bricks; there's some room for it to move vertically, however, on the off chance you're given to shaking the set.
Of course, the minibuilds can be used as stand-alones without the set. Ideally the artwork of the box would help lend it some more context.
Again, no new custom pieces.
Running totals:
Total minifig count: 01
Total piece count (excluding minifigs): 47
Of those, custom pieces: 2 (1 torso, 1 2x2 tile)
