12 Grimmauld Place Advent Calendar Day 10
Dec. 10th, 2022 11:39 pmWhat If...
What if the 2022 Lego Harry Potter Advent Calendar focused on the Order of the Phoenix's Christmas at 12 Grimmauld Place in 1995? With the release of the lovely Grimmauld Place set this year and an abundance of canonical Christmas material, it seems such a shame that it didn't, so with the magic of Mecabricks, let's just pretend it did... Hey Presto!
The calendar starts here with Day 01.
Day 10 of the 12 Grimmauld Place Advent Calendar

Day ten we'd see the armchair from the drawing room Ginny has been cleaning and decorating. Underneath it we'd find one of the nests of dead Puffskeins that Kreacher hasn't seen fit to address.
79757 Slope, Curved 2 x 2 x 2/3 Double Corner isn't in the mecabricks database yet, so I've replaced each with four 49307 Slope, Curved 1 x 1 x 2/3 Doubles in an impossible build.

"Sirius has had a Puffskein infestation again," Ginny grunts in dissatisfaction and tells the others about the state of house.
"I thought we cleaned those out in August?" Fred objects.
"We did. And now we're doing it again."
"Well at least you know what to do," he chuckles.
"You could help, you know. You don't have a Trace on your wand, and it would go a lot quicker if we used more magic."
"Didn't stop you before," he laughs, pointing to where the wreath now hangs on the wall.
"Yeah, but now you're standing right next to me," she shrugs pragmatically. "With this many witches and wizards this close under one roof, they couldn't tell who it was anyway."
"Not without checking your wand," Fred grins wolfishly. "But if they did, no worries, I used it accidentally," he smiles winningly at his proposed contribution to the housework.
"Or you could just help," Ginny replies firmly, immune to his attempts at charm.
"Harry is probably the only one here who has to worry about the Trace anyway," Fred assesses the situation all too accurately. Harry just looks even more glum in response.
"I don't understand why Kreacher hasn't just taken care of the infestation," he complains, trying not to think of the Wizengamot with little success.
"He hadn't last time either," Ginny replies, shaking her head thoughtfully. "I don't think he or Sirius are doing very well here on their own with nothing but each other and the portraits for company."
With sentiments like those, there's a good chance she's been spending too much time with Hermione, but the boys shudder at the thought of Walburga's screeching portrait nevertheless. It can't be much fun listening to that. Or the house elf's crazy mutterings for that matter. Gin probably has a point.

The armchair comes with two extra 1x1 Plates so it can be fit into the Piano Room in the 12 Grimmauld Place set. The piano goes into the room to its left in 13 Grimmauld Place (one of the seats moves down to the kitchen), and the armchair already present in 13GP moves to the tapestry room in 11 Grimmauld Place. The move is necessary because the tapestry room is one row of studs less deep due to the tapestry panel, so it can't accommodate the piano.

The Puffskein nest under the chair could be represented as it is here by the Cinnamon Roll from Jacob Kowalski's collectible minifig from series one. Tile, Round 1 x 1 with Dark Purple Skull Outline with X Eyes Pattern could also do.
Running totals:
Total minifig count: 03
Total piece count (excluding minifigs): 95
Of those, custom pieces: 5 (3 torsos, 1 2x2 tile, 1 2x2 tile circle)

I always like to guess what the pieces in the Advent Calendars will build before peeking at the pictures, but here you see them assembled. To compensate for that, I've decided the best approach would be to include a picture of the next day's parts so you can play along at home:
Day 11 Pieces

Guess away!
