12 Grimmauld Place Advent Calendar Day 02
Dec. 2nd, 2022 07:10 pmWhat If...
What if the 2022 Lego Harry Potter Advent Calendar focused on the Order of the Phoenix's Christmas at 12 Grimmauld Place in 1995? With the release of the lovely Grimmauld Place set this year and an abundance of canonical Christmas material, it seems such a shame that it didn't, so with the magic of Mecabricks, let's just pretend it did... Hey Presto!
The calendar starts here with Day 01.
Day 02 of the 12 Grimmauld Place Advent Calendar

Day two would give us a spot for Harry Potter (and any other minifigs the calendar might just happen to contain) to sit and enjoy Molly’s delightful Christmas pudding at the narrow Grimmauld Place kitchen table.

(Apologies for the low quality youtube screenshot.)

The calendar might include a custom print for the Daily Prophet, as seen here, without blowing the presumptive budget for the set. I've tried to use the contents of previous years' sets as an indication of what an Advent Calendar might reasonably be expected to contain. So far, the total count seems to be alright. I don't think there's a source version of a Daily Prophet prop for the occasion (please feel encouraged to correct me on that), so I created one, and if kept vague enough, as above, it could serve both as the Christmas 1995 edition of the Prophet and for the OotP Battle at the Ministry of Magic several months later until such a time as we get a "HE WHO MUST NOT BE NAMED RETURNS" headline, if we ever do.
Running totals:
Total minifig count: 01
Total piece count (excluding minifigs): 16
Of those, custom pieces: 2 (1 torso, 1 2x2 tile)

I always like to guess what the pieces in the Advent Calendars will build before peeking at the pictures, but here you see them assembled. To compensate for that, I've decided the best approach would be to include a picture of the next day's parts so you can play along at home:
Day 03 Pieces

Guess away!

Some recommendations:
If you like Harry Potter MOCs, checkout the Horizont Alley build.
