Thoughts: that's a very steep buy in for the Great Hall set, and it leaves me wondering what the whole castle is likely to cost. 😕 I'm also disappointed they haven't continued with the previously unreleased sets in the vein of the Boathouse and the Owlery, but it's possible they may still revisit that at a later date. (I'm hoping for eventual Bell Towers.) Still, that would have helped lengthen the product cycle, and not doing so doesn't send the greatest of messages.
Potions Class and Aragog were predictable, and I'm likely to get both. I really hope the former will contain a new Snarky Snape. We've only had two since the reboot, and they weren't great. The latter will hopefully help establish the new Forbidden Forest aesthetic, do some world building and continue to supply us with creatures. (Future sets will probably contain centaurs and possibly, just possibly we'll see a unicorn one day.) The Great Hall was unavoidable. I'm not sure I need a third one in the space of six years, particularly not at that price point. I'm torn between a sense they're trying to bleed the market dry and a tendency to welcome variants so everyone can find the set they really want; I'll reserve judgment until I see it. The DA-lite series is also something of a mixed bag for me. What I really want to see is a second Diagon Alley D2C, and not retread of the already covered in increments. This, too, is feeling like another squeeze, and is likely to leave me turning to MOCs. The problem with that or purchasing the "lite" versions is both make me less likely to splurge for a DA2 if it ever comes. The Mandrake and Buckbeak will probably look good, they've got that part down, but are both uninteresting to me at those prices. Frankly, I'm not even sure I would pick them up if they were reduced. And finally, I know many will welcome the Durmstrang Ship, and while they're at it, it's probably reasonable to revisit the carriage for those who missed it. This, too, is likely to be a pass for me.
It's a strange wave. I'm apparently only looking forward to the two smallest sets. Realistically there's a chance I'll still get the DA set, but have mixed feelings about that, and then there's a far slimmer chance I'd splash out on the Great Hall. It feels anticlimactic, which is a shame. I'm wondering what they could have done to change that.
I'll keep you posted when we have more information. 😊
