Minifig Wishlists...

So as I’m staying nice and warm and toasty inside today (it snowed yesterday, and also: lockdown), I decided it might be fun to take a look at the minifigures we’ve seen this series (from 2018 onwards) and make a list of the ones that are still missing. It wasn’t long. And then I thought, oh what the heck, why not try to make a list of non-trivial characters (and I appreciate that mileage will vary greatly on that qualifier 😆) that have never been released as minifigs at all... That kept me occupied for a while. 😉

Minifigures we're missing altogether from 2018 onwards that have appeared in previous lego series: Narcissa Malfoy, Igor Karkaroff, the PS Troll, GoF Merperson, random goblins (e.g. Bogrod), and (technically) Peeves. Then there are the “window dressing” figs (which might better include the random goblins... eh), suits of armour, statues (like the “Marauder's Map statue” - I’m still hoping for a nice Gunhilda of Gorsemoor fig, the one-eyed, hump-backed Healer whose statue blocks the tunnel to Honeydukes) 

Variants of figs (that have appeared in previous series) that we’re still missing: Neville in his DH outfit (Fair Isle sweater), Remus Lupin transforming into the wolf PoA, sleeping Hermione and Ron from the GoF second task, swimming suit Harry and Viktor (including shark's head) from the GoF second task, OotP Death Eater

Never before released variants: Tonks with pink hair, Sirius with normal clothes (both relatively easy to MOC), Hermione in the red dress on the other hand... (It would be so nice to have her in one that actually suits her. *sigh*) What else would you guys like to see?

List of unreleased characters...

The methodology: because I am super swotty (don’t judge), I made lists of the top 20 characters that haven’t been “figged” by both book mentions and screen time, and then averaged their rankings on both lists to get an order. (For the similarly swotty, I can make another post out of those rankings if you’d like to see my work or are just detail junkies... 😉) Because the lego designers have said in the past that the lack of a movie canon reference presents a problem in designing new material (although I’d argue the video games required them to design / lego-fy much of JKR’s Wizarding World already) and lack of screen time seems to be equated to a real or perceived lack of toy desirability, I’ve removed the essentially “book only” entires to a section of their own.

What strikes me as interesting is this is (an admittedly flawed) attempt to use an objective metric, and yet the characters’ (completely subjective) impact on me as a fan often doesn’t correspond (remotely) to their rank. Food for thought...

Minor characters not making the top 20 lists of unreleased figs in either books or films (in no particular order; knowing myself, I’ll sort them too one day): Madam Pince, Firenze, Pansy Parkinson, Millicent Bulstrode, the Carrows, Roger Davies, Michael Corner, Terry Boot, Professor Binns, the Bloody Baron, the Fat Friar, Professor Vector, Professor Burbage (I know: inappropriate for a toy), Batilda Bagshot (definitely ditto), Professor Babbling, Professor Grubbly-Plank, Mafalda Hopkirk, the Cattermoles, miscellaneous Death Eaters like Dolohov, Yaxley, Runcorn, random Snatchers.
